Feb 21 2008 10:10AM: Wayne White at Western Project

Donald Judd Was a Son of a Bitch Wrecked His Train in a Whorehouse Ditch
Wayne White's early artistic career began commercially, designing sets for music videos that included Peter Gabriel's "Big Time" and the Smashing Pumpkins's "Tonight Tonight" as well as television shows like "Pee-wee's Playouse." He eventually moved into the 2-d realm with thrift store paintings, a series he's been working on since 1999. On March 15, Western Project will be exhibiting his works in its Culver City gallery. He's currently in a group show at the Ottawa Art Gallery, an interview with White was conducted last week, you can listen to the podcast here or the mp3 version. In the conversation he explains his thought process behind the thrift store paintings and how his show at Western Project will evolve and depart from this.
